Modernization, exchange, migration of automation systems based on Simatic S5 to Simatic S7
In 1979 Siemens company introduced controllers Simatic S5. These controllers were programmed with the use of three languages: assembler, ladder language and function blocks.
These controllers were installed in hundreds of thousands of installations and often still work nowadays. However, there is a time that one has to think of replacement and modernization.
In 1997 a new series of controllers appeared: Simatic S7 , they are the followers of the S5.
For many years there was production maintained of the controllers S5. The official termination of production for particular series of controllers took place in:
The access to servicing parts become more and more difficult and they become much more expensive than controllers modules available in regular sale.
These controllers could still work with installations or machines, however the risk of possible failure or the costs of eventual shutdowns make the customers decide to migrate from S5 controllers to S7.
Replacement of Simatic S5 controllers to S7 is often complex, laborious and responsible.
It requires:
Thanks to new solutions of the controllers Simatic S7 and getting to know the algorithms during migration it is possible to make modernization thus modifying method of controller's function according to the actual needs of the customer.
Thanks to our many years of experience in creating and servicing of technological lines with the use of Simatic S5 and Simatic S7 we are sure that modernization and replacement of the controllers Simatic S5 to Simatic S7 will end up with success.
